MOBILEGRAPHY,
DRONE PHOTOS, AND
A PROFESSIONAL
CAMERA, THIS
IS ROSHENA’S
PHOTOGRAPHY
JOURNEY
By: Dania Haris
In our Feature Photographer of the month, I reached out to
an Instagram page called @she.f.sho who regularly posts
very dramatic and cinematic photos of Malaysia. We’ve
actually reposted her photo on our own page and thought
‘let’s get to know the person behind this photo.’ Several text
messages later, we sat down virtually on a weekend and
talked all about Dr. Roshena’s photography journey. Read
all about it below!
How did you start picking up photography?
It all started because I bought a superbike! You know how bikes have
more access to tiny roads and the more secluded areas as compared
to cars? I got to enjoy these places-- things you wouldn’t be able to
18 observe when you’re sitting in the car. 19

With the bike rides came mobile-graphy. I have been experimenting a
of lenses and filters.
INTERVIEW Then later when my skills improved overtime with mobile-graphy I
realised phones do not perform as well as compared to a DSLR.
It didn’t convince me to get into camera yet but I went into drone
initially, I already had something to hold in the hand and I thought
having the perspective of a bird’s eyes view would be interesting so it
started off with drone photography.
After doing that for a year, the pandemic hit so in May 2020, I bought
a camera because I was so bored! I started shooting in my backyard.
For that, I thought, ‘okay, let’s just get a camera that can perform’ and
then my potential was endless.
